Presenting Effectively to Senior Level Audiences
By Joan Lloyd
Managers typically have to make presentations, particularly to higher level audiences. To make a good impression there are a few skills that you can easily adapt to your presentation style which will help you give an efficient presentation, make a good impression and stay on point.
Start with an “elevator speech” outline to discuss what you’re going to present, why it’s important and what you want the audience to understand. To create your elevator speech think about the points you want to get across and how you can best communicate those points in a succinct manner without too much background or excessive details.
Preparation is also key to successful presentation skills especially if you’re not yet comfortable with talking to an audience. Make sure you practice before going live for the first time and be prepared to answer challenging questions.
Effective presentation skills are one of the most coveted skills in the new working environment. Presenting your ideas powerfully and effectively demands content knowledge, delivery skills and an awareness of the tools that can take an ordinary presentation and turn it into a powerful platform for delivering meaningful messages that will be around long after the meeting is over.
