Residency Showcase
The residency showcase is an event held at the Midyear Clinical Meeting and is a terrific forum to meet programs’ current residents and preceptors in an informal session to gain information. Programs participating in the showcase have a booth at the on either Monday afternoon from 1:00 P.M. to 4:00 P.M., Tuesday morning from 8:00 A.M. to 11:00 A.M., or Tuesday afternoon from 1:00 P.M. to 4:00 P.M. Prospective residents can attend the showcase to meet those programs recruiting for the 2008-2009 year.
The location and listing of the programs that will be at the meeting, along with the time, day, and booth number are published in the October 15 issue of the American Journal of Health-System Pharmacy, the Midyear Clinical Meeting (MCM) Program Book, and on the ASHP website at http://www.ashp.org/midyear08. It is also important to review the daily News and Views at the MCM for any changes or additional programs that were added to the showcase after publication of the journal article and MCM program book.
Click here to view the floor plan of the showcase in the exhibit hall. Please use this as a guide to assist in navigating the showcase. Booths marked as 15' or 20' are for sites who have multiple sites/multiple programs.
ASHP staff members and members of the ASHP Commission on Credentialing will be available at an information desk housed within the residency showcase to answer any questions that anyone may have. They will be available at the residency showcase information desk within the showcase during showcase hours.
Helpful Tips
- Your registration to the MCM allows you to participate in the showcase (no additional fees are necessary).
- Do your homework. It’s important to outline which sites you want to visit during the showcase. Please find out which date and time the sites that you plan to visit will be at the showcase. Take a look at the diagram of the showcase and know where you’re going to be visiting.
- Sites that only have one program will have smaller booths. Sites that have multiple programs may be displaying at larger booths.
- Programs are listed by site, not by specific type of residency program offered.
- Sites participating ONLY exhibit during ONE time slot. They DO NOT exhibit during ALL sessions. Use the following key to make sure that the sites that you want to see are displaying during certain sessions:
4000 series #s Monday, December 8, 1-4pm 5000 series #s Tuesday AM, December 9, 8-11am 6000 series #s Tuesday PM, December 9, 1-4pm - Make sure and look at the News and Views at the MCM during showcase days to see if any more programs have been added or any have changed their timeslot.
- Many programs are also involved in the Personal Placement Services (PPS) and may invite you for a private interview. You have to be registered for PPS to interview there so it’s a good idea to pre-register for that event as well.
- Be respective of each programs time. Have your questions prepared before you visit them at the showcase.
