
Resident Checklist and Timeline
September
- You may begin to submit the resident matching program application agreement form with the appropriate fee. Link: http://www.natmatch.com/ashprmp/ (Remember you must apply to individual programs independently of the Match. Program application deadlines vary so you should check with each separately)
- Begin work on curriculum vitae (CV) and cover letters.
- Register for PPS and post resume online.
October
- Review the ASHP Online Residency Directory which provides information on ASHP-accredited residencies.
- Request additional information and applications from programs of interest.
- Register to attend the ASHP Midyear Clinical Meeting (MCM); select programs to visit in the MCM Residency Showcase.
- Finalize online resume on PPS and begin to search for opportunities (October 21 is the early rate deadline for PPS, October 22, Search Opens)
- Finalize CV
- Make necessary travel and housing arrangements.
November
- Continue to search for opportunities and contact employers to request PPS interviews.
December
- Attend the ASHP Midyear Clinical Meeting. Conduct interviews at PPS and narrow your residency selections.
- Request letters of recommendation. Remember to enclose any forms required.
- Complete all paperwork for applications, including ordering transcripts.
- Schedule on-site interviews.
January
- On-site interviews begin.
- Submit application agreement form to National Matching Services Inc by January 8
February
- Complete interviews.
- Narrow residency choices to programs that best meet your professional/personal needs and goals.
March
- Submit Rank Order Form to be received by National Matching Services Inc by March 5
- Receive “Match” outcome at 12 noon Eastern Daylight Savings Time on March 17.
- Unmatched residency candidates resubmit application to programs with positions remaining through April 16.
