Job Description

Full-Time Evening Pharmacy Technician

Mercy Hospital and Medical Center, Chicago, IL



Description: You’ll assist in various pharmacy activities, under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist, and other duties not requiring the review of a pharmacist. The majority of tasks and responsibilities are related to preparing, dispensing, and distributing medications. Other duties include maintaining patient records, and setting up, packaging, and labeling of medication doses and billing. You will perform job duties under minimal supervision within pharmacy standards, written procedures and guidelines, and state regulatory requirements. You will be responsible for the accurate completion of daily activities and the follow through of tasks to ensure completion. This position works 40 hours per week from 3p-11:30p including weekend rotations.



Qualifications:

· Certified pharmacy technician with IL licensure

· Must have a minimum 1 year previous pharmacy technician experience in an inpatient hospital setting

· Effective verbal and written communication skills



Facility: Located in downtown Chicago near public transportation and freeways, Mercy is known for a number of distinguished programs including cardiology, labor and delivery, urology, and diabetes. The Mercy inpatient pharmacy is open 24/7 and is a stand-alone pharmacy with a hybrid centralized/decentralized staffing model and is supported by centralized and decentralized automation products. Management of the pharmacy is outsourced to CPS.
